A pedestrian was killed this afternoon after being struck by a car near downtown Houston, authorities said. The fatal accident happened about 3:30 p.m. on Pierce near Smith, police said. The driver had the green light at the intersection. Police said it wasn't immediately clear if the victim was in the cross-walk at the time. The victim has not been identified and the fatal accident remains under investigation, police said.
